Ho Hum: Lise Watier Violet Dore Nail Polish

From Lise Watier’s Holiday collection this past Christmas, here is ‘Violet Dore.’  Check it out (both pics are natural light, with Seche Vite top coat):

It’s sort of a cross between Zoya’s ‘Dannii’ from their Spring 2011 Intimates collection, and ‘Faye’ from their Summer 2011 Sunshine collection.  More demure than ‘Dannii’ and more purple than ‘Faye.’  This polish has exactly the same type of sparkle the Zoya has become known for.  Which, unfortunately, I am so tired of!  I know that it sparkles so beautifully in the sun, but right now I’m on a subtle shimmer/creme kick and I can’t seem to get out of it.  Or maybe I just haven’t found the right shade.

In any case, this is a nice polish, goes on without a hitch in nice, thin layers (this is three coats but you could do two), and is pretty but just not for me.  And, while we’re making comparisons with Zoya, this polish was $14 CDN and Zoya’s are $10-11CDN.  And the sizing is 0.41 oz compared to Zoya’s 0.5 oz.  AND this polish was LE for Christmas, so you’d have to hunt for it to get it.  So all around, I’d say go for one of Zoya’s sparklers to save money and hassle.  I just thought I’d post it because it’s what I’m wearing this week :)

What do you think of this polish?  And how are you feeling about the super sparkly polishes in general right now, loving or hating??

Thanks for reading!!

I like it on you! It looks like futuristic chic to me, and that’s what makes it different! I’ve never tried any Lise Watier polishes…must take more notice from now on, thanks to you! As to the price difference, it’s worth hunting down CG polishes, but only if they’re available in your area (not in mine, sadly!). Kudos on the super post!

@ Eugenia – thank you :) I guess it does look futuristic! Sadly, it only lasted two days on my nails before I changed it lol
@ Liz – I’ll be interested to hear your own experiences with LW polishes.
@ Loodie – Thank you! The contrast is really interesting and quite beautiful in person, I’m just not sure its for my skin, and as we’ve said, the finish – over it! :P

I just bought two Lise Watier polishes (will post about them soon) and I was also surprised by how small the bottles are as well as the expensiveness of the brand in general. LW must have some loyal customers to charge so much for a Canadian drugstore brand! It’ll be my first time with them and I look forward to comparing my experience with yours! I hear you on the glittery nail thing… I too am on a subtle shimmer/cream phase. But this colour looks great on you!

What a pretty polish color! I have to agree I get tired of this finish too, but love this yellow purple contrast.

...And what do you have to say about all this?? Dish! :)
