Despite all my love for cosmetics and beautiful (and beautifying!) things, as I’ve mentioned before I’m actually not very vain and can sometimes be a bit lazy, beauty-wise. My personal ‘maintenance’ is relatively low – I get my hair cut VERY infrequently (the last time it was professionally trimmed was April 2010) and I haven’t dyed it since 2004; I shave my legs maybe once a week (much less in the Winter); I get my brows done just twice a year (to maintain the shape); and I only get pedicures (never mani’s because I don’t like them) if I’m going down South.
Having said all that, there are some things I indulge in with some consistency – brazilian waxes, and massages (although if you recall, the frequency of my massage habit has significantly dwindled due to my much lower coverage now – from $1500 a year to $300
). Just once and I was a convert to both treatments for life.
Now, to the point of this post. Yesterday I got a brazilian from my regular gal, Christine, who works at Jay Wells Salon. Afterward, I realized that she really needs a shout out because she is absolutely stellar and deserves some major props. I started with Christine back in 2007, and haven’t looked back. I followed her from The Summit Spa to Jay Wells and let me tell you, she is SO worth it. Aside from her excellent skill and efficiency at performing a task which is NOT fun for the recipient, her ability to maintain professionalism while still being friendly and engaging is quite a feat – I feel comfortable to say that after all these years, Christine is not just my esthetician, but a friend. She makes a painful experience actually something to look forward to, which, if you’ve ever had a bikini wax, is pretty darn awesome. Additionally, I’ve seen her handy work at pedicures, and the girl is meticulous. Truly a master at what she does.

I’m a big fan of giving credit where credit is due, and Christine most definitely deserves a “Hell Yeah!” for her great work. If you’re in the market for a new esthetician, I highly suggest looking her up at Jay Wells Salon on Barrington St. in Hali. She is well worth your while!
Do you have a pro in your life you count on to make you look/feel your best? What types of salon/spa services do you indulge in on a regular basis? Anything you simply cannot do without?
I hope everyone is enjoying some beautiful summer weather like we are here in Hali! It’s about darn time
