Back In VERY Full Effect!

I have been back in town for approximately…13 hours, and already I’ve spent far too much $$$ on cosmetics!!  Hi, hello, nice to see you all again!! :D   Clearly I’ve returned from vacation and am not wasting ANY time jumping – running full-speed – back into my serious cosmetics obsession!! A full week of wearing nothing but braids, sunscreen, and a quick swipe of concealer under my eyes, and I REALLY need a hardcore beauty fix.

As I mentioned before I left, I had concerns that the Chanel Fall line was going to come out when I was away and I’d miss out on the goods, so I made sure to give my list (and my credit card number) to the SA at the counter to ensure I wouldn’t return to a major disappointment.  Happily, the collection DID come in, so I was even spending money on cosmetics while I was away! (in a sneaky way :P )

Today I indulged myself in another few purchases as well – just to round things out, you understand ;)   Also, I received my end in a swap I was participating in, so that was even MORE treats!!  In total, here’s what I’ve picked up in the past few days:

Chanel Purchases:
Le Vernis in Graphite $27
Le Vernis in Peridot $27
Le Crayon Yeux in Khaki Platine $27
Illusion d’Ombre in Émerveillé $37

Dermalogica Ultracalming Mist $45 (@ 20% off at Chatters, $36)

China Glaze Trendsetter nail polish $6.49 (@ 20% off at Chatters, $5.19)

Swap Items
NARS Cream Blush in Turkish Red

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in MildewAll these purchases – including the items I picked up from Sephora the day we left – make me seem like an insane shopaholic, I know.  I’m usually not this cavalier and reckless with my cash, despite my love for cosmetics.  Sadly, there is a reason to my madness…something quite surprizing and upsetting happened while I was away and I’m indulging in some serious retail therapy.  I’m not quite ready to talk about it just yet but I’ll be sure to fill you all in when I am.

Anyway, not to bring the mood down here!  There’s product to be detailed and discussed!!  :)

First and foremost, let me say here and now that I simply CANNOT be purchasing Chanel polishes every season.  I just can’t do it.  $27 crushes my soul and if I didn’t love these shades so much there is no way I would have picked them up.  I was almost tempted to return Peridot, as I find it’s quite similar to China Glaze Peace on Earth from last year’s holiday collection, but I couldn’t part with it.  It looks SOO fabulous in the bottle!  On the nail, its a bit underwhelming, as I knew from reading other blogs, but it’s still a real standout shade and just this once I’ll excuse my rash behavior.

Second, let me say that I did NOT think I would be picking up Trendsetter from the China Glaze Metro collection – definitely one of those ugly-pretty shades – but I’m getting a bit bored with the same old vampy/murky shades and wanted something different.  Unfortunately, they had sold out of Midtown Magic, but they are getting a new shipment in soon and I WILL get my hands on it because it is beautiful.

Another note is that this is my very first Dermalogica (I always want to write Dermatologica!) purchase ever.  If there wasn’t a 20% off I wouldn’t have gotten anything from the line – it is majorly pricey!!  And I know, I know, $27 for nail polish, but Chanel makes you feel soo luxurious when you use any of their products – Dermalogica’s line is so terribly boring and blah looking – like it should be in a derm’s office (quel surprize!).  I know their playing to that esthetic, but snoooooze.  I just feel like I’m paying an arm and a leg for a really underwhelming product.  I guess we’ll know soon enough if I’m converted once I see how it words on my (lately) hyper-sensitive skin.

I was determined to get Khaki Platine because of the deep sorrow I felt (how dramatic!) at missing out on it’s Springtime sister, Rose Platine.  It’s very subtle but does give a great pick-me-up to the eye area super easily.  Émerveillé was an additional purchase I picked up today on a whim (oops!) and totally not the kind of item I’d look at, let alone buy – it seems kind of plain: a shimmering peach shade that blends very easily into the skintone.  On someone fairer, I think it would come off as a beautiful peachy-bronze that I imagine would look particularly spectacular on blue- or green-eyed gals.  On this brown-eyed, brown-skinned gal, it doesn’t have much ‘color’ but it makes my eyes sparkle like nobody’s business.  Its subtle in a fan-freaking-tastic way.  Totally digging it.Currently I’m at my parents sans camera (I’m sure theirs is somewhere but I am not privy to this information and they are not home) so unfortunately I cannot take photos *yet* of any of the pretty little things, but believe you me, I’ll be all over that tomorrow :)

Please, pretty please, everyone fill me in on what’s being going on in the past week!  I hope everyone is doing really great – missed you all so much!

Thanks ladies!! Oh man, do we EVER live vicariously! It’s absolutely wonderful :D

Liz, after reading your post today on red blush, I definitely think you should check out ‘Turkish Red.’ It creates a really beautiful, natural (non-shimmery) flush. Eugenia – not that you need my shopping advice lol, but Emerveille is pretty awesome, to be honest. I think it’s worthwhile picking up!! And, sadly, I’m still sick-ish but I did try and follow your advice :)

Okay, I just know that Peridot is going to look utterly fabulous on you. I totally excuse you! ;)

And I’ve been hemming and hawing over NARS Turkish Red for a while now so am excited to know you now possess it! I know you’re normally very responsible, so glad to hear you were able to indulge in these goodies at a time when you needed to!

I love how we all live vicariously through each other’s beauty hauls…it’s like getting double the loot! I picked up 4 of the Chanel Ombre shadows, but not the one you chose…I’m in the process of testing them now & they are AMAZING!! I can’t wait to see your polish swatches, as well as your swatch of the Emerveille….perhaps you might tempt me to go for #5 (insert sound of bank balance decreasing!) Great choices, Toya!

Hope your trip was excellent, even if you did start off by being under the weather. By the way, how are you feeling now? You better have taken my advice, young lady….or else!! Lol!
