It’s Always A Good Time for a Holo: a-England’s Lady of the Lake

As a holo lover, and considering the quality and originality of a-England polishes, I feel ashamed to say that I’ve had this polish for like, 6 months, and just wore it for the first time last week.  *Gasp!*  I know, I know, it’s some sort of sacrilege.  But I bought soo many other polishes during the Summer it just seemed to fall by the wayside…and then I was waiting for a handful of sunny days in a row to maximize it’s holo quality – but you know that can be terribly elusive here on the East Coast of Canada!  But, finally, the time came when the stars aligned and all that jazz, and it was TIME.  And so, please prepare yourself for the beautiful Lady of the Lake:The shots above were taken indoors – you can see the polish is a pretty medium purple, and it just looks like it has shimmer in this lighting.  Still quite lovely.I had the perfect sunny day to showcase the holo qualities – it was late afternoon so the sun had this great warm glow.  You can see that the holo is not obvious or in your face, but demure and mysterious, while still apparent in the right light.  So beautiful!  I think it enhances the tones in the polish as well.

Lady of the Lake applied with total ease – even with my brush, which was a bit splayed for some reason, I had to application issues at all.  The formula is thin but perfectly so, flowing well, and two coats result in perfect opacity.  It is self-leveling and dries fairly glossy without a top coat added.  I actually liked this shade better than Tristam – to me it’s prettier and more feminine.  It’s a total gem in my collection!

What do you think of the Lady?  Do you think there should be more holo, or do you feel its suitable for this polish?

Lady of the Lake is simply GORGEOUS! You already know what a huge fan of a-england that I am, and I must say that as the “Lady” was my first holo polish, I was blown away by everything about it. Looks amazing on you and I’m sure that now that you’ve discovered this beauty, you will turn to her over & over again (as I do!). As to the splayed brush, if the issue hasn’t resolved itself, I suggest you email Adina at a-england and let her know; manufacturing defects do occur and I’m sure she’d want to know about it.

Good to know Eugenia, from what I’ve heard about Adina, she sounds as amazing as her polish, which makes me love the brand all the more! I hope she comes out with new shades soon!

Gaaaaaah, it is GORGEOUS! I don’t know which I’d pick between this and Tristam but I think a-england is at the top of this nail polish game. Just as I’m about to reduce, I realize there is an entire line that I need to get my grubby hands on. It does make me think, though, that it’s time to stop wasting change on the drugstore dupes and save up for only works of art like this!

Amen to that Liz :) I think dupes are totally fine, but there are just some polishes you can’t recreate (this one, case in point). I do love it…I wish I hadn’t waited so long to wear it! But, at least now I now, and hopefully have many more mani’s to enjoy it with!

I think this polish looks great on especially in the sunlight!
