But I assure you that its all harmless at the end of the day – there is just something I really enjoy in a challenge, and it’s not just something I do certain times of the year; as you can see, it’s an ongoing process that I seem to *torture* myself with constantly haha. Just a little quirk of mine I guess :P

I come from a religious family myself (with several priests and even a couple of bishops in my lineage), as well as having been my church’s choir organist for close to 14 years, so I’m quite familiar with all the rituals surrounding our religion, but the way we usually observe this, is by literally fasting the week leading up to Easter ie: no dairy, no eggs, no meat and for some obscure reason, no olive oil (don’t ask me why). I have been able to do everything but the no dairy part; I can’t have my coffee without cream, and if I don’t have coffee I become an ogre, so I just try and do my best. I want to know if you (and anyone else who observes religious rites) should be making yourself do something out of the norm for a specified period of the year, all in the name of religion? I mean, after all, shouldn’t it be more about the way you comport yourself all year round, the person you strive to be, and the personal relationship you have with God on the inside? If you feel comfortable with setting these restrictions upon yourself, then that’s fine; if you’re only doing it because you’re supposed to do something, then you’re not being true to yourself….and that’s not so fine. Then again, maybe I’m saying this as a way of justifying my own weaknesses? Lol! Either way, I do understand where you’re coming from and if it’s your intention to follow through with this plan, then I totally support you!
