Surprize, surprize, I actually bought something off my lemmings list! I feel like such a flake sometimes – I post these lists of things and then hardly ever actually buy them. My sensible side almost always prevails – and dammit if it doesn’t annoy the crap outta me!!
Anyway – this time I came through for you guys, whoopee!
Actually, the very next day after I posted my July lemmings list, I got a bit of feedback on the nude polishes, did a bit more research, and found out that my Chanel counter still had Inattendu from their Spring 2010 release ‘Les Impressions de Chanel’ (the very same collection that really launched ‘greige’ as a go-to shade, Particulière). As usual, I marched right on down to the counter to swipe a bottle quickfast, as I had a major jonesing for nice nude to wear with my bright pedi’s. I normally put more thought into purchasing $26 bottles of nail polish, but there was none of that annoying ‘sensibility’ present that day!
Thankfully, my quick reaction did not lead to major buyers remorse later – and Inattendu, a creamy beige, was exactly what I was looking for in a nude polish! It’s got a warmth to it from the peachy tones so that my hands don’t look drab (aka Zoya’s Cho), and it’s not too matchy to my skintone to look boring or go unnoticed (which happens with OPI’s San Tan-tonio, which is just too close to my skintone when I’m tanned). Nor is Inattendu sheer – while it did take 3 coats to get it to a satisfactory opacity, that was mostly because it goes on a tad streaky due to the pale creamy shade, and I am admittedly a perfectionist. I did my thumbs with only 2 coats (I didn’t take pictures, d’oh), and it was fine, really.
I find that the polish makes my hands look very feminine and pretty, and sophisticated too. I actually didn’t want to take this off (always a good sign)! I can see me wearing this often during the rest of the season, and even into the rest of the year – it’s extremely transitional as it doesn’t run too warm or cool. I can also see this working for a variety of skintones, with varying effects, but lovely just the same.
From what I can tell online, this shade is still showing available on both the Canada and US websites, and my SA told me she had ‘a bunch’ of bottles left, so this may not have been limited edition – though don’t quote me on that! Sometimes the perks of living in a smaller city is that people IN the city don’t pounce on products as quickly because they aren’t as concerned with trends. I would suggest that if you like the shade, do a little research – I hope it’s as easy to procure as it was for me!
So – yay or nay for Inattendu? What polish shade do you feel makes your hands look their loveliest?

Very nice, Toya! It looks great on you!!! And I am NOT saying that just because it’s Chanel. The colour looks super against your skin tone. I do believe you can rest easy on the nude polish front now – phew! Inattendu is one of those shades that never really grabbed me but I always knew it would rock on the right person. I’m usually in awe of your sensibilities but your non-sensibilities are awe-inducing as well.

Oh Liz, you do know how to flatter a girl
I’m pretty darn happy with this shade, and though it was a splurge, I think the wearability of it makes up for the cost! Though I guiltily admit I hadn’t even considered that my nude hunt was now over lol – I’ll heed yours and Larie’s advice and quit while I’m ahead!

that’s like the perfect nude neutral nail polish, that color would be great for a nude lip

Looks so pretty on you. I think it’s because of the peach base, but it really pulls orange on me. This is one shade from CHANEL that I have not been able to ‘dupe’ this one, and June which is a light apricot. I think thisis a timeless shade and you will wear for many seasons. I bet you use the whole bottle.

YAY *flings confetti* You did it! You found THE perfect nude…although I have a hard time classifying this shade as nude exactly; that’s what CHANEL does: they manage to create colours we never knew existed, then we can’t wait to get ‘em! I really, really like how this looks on you and it strikes the perfect balance between being understated & sophisticated, without trying too hard (if you know what I mean!) Another plus is that this shade was made to work again in yet another recent CHANEL show (I believe it was Spring? Not sure which show exactly…) so that shows you that even the brand itself still places a high value on its versatility! Congrats on snagging one, my friend!

Well, I have you to thank somewhat, Eugenia! You nailed the description of it’s sophistication and understated – ah, it’s just really perfect, I concur
And I think this shade changed my overall opinion of Chanel’s polish as a whole – they do manage to make shades that are at once original and classic. It’s a major skill, you’re right!!

Clean is the perfect way to describe it!

That is gorgeous on you, love! If you asked me a couple weeks ago, I would say that I’d never buy this as it is too peachy for me. But. since I tried a peach recently and LOVED it, I may have to give this a closer look!

Yes, Tara, go for it! I saw the peach on you and it looked fab! You could make this look absolutely stunning, I have NO doubt

lol I’m the same way with my wish-lists–so don’t worry. I always have a SUPER long, ongoing one but I hardly ever buy items from them. hahaha I think writing it down somehow helps me control my buying a lot better…I’ll sit on the item for a LONG time until I feel like I’ve waited long enough and I know I still want it just as bad, so then I’ll finally purchase!

I’m glad I’m not the only one, Becca! I think you may be on to something regarding the writing it down – maybe it helps us ponder it more clearly or something. So I guess that’s a good thing! At least we’re hopefully only buying the very best

I think this one is perfect, Toya! It really is the perfect neutral/nude – shows up *just* enough, but is also quite demure. I think you can stop looking, for sure!
#17 by Latoya on July 27, 2012 - 1:52 pm
You’re probably right Larie…I just hope I heed your advice and do so! LOL I really love it, so if anything I may just grab a more pinky sheer-type shade to have as well

Ooo, it’s *perfect* on you! I worried it might be too warm for me, but your swatch gives me hope.
Blerg, I just decided to stop buying Chanels, but maybe just one more…

Hahaha I don’t like to be ‘that’ girl – but I think this shade would be fantastic on you Lola…definitely one more

Love love love this.. Perfect color choice for you, it does make your hands look lovely. I love the peach tones in it. I feel a tad guilty after a Chanel polish purchase, but I feel a tad more special when wearing in. So let us Indulge ourselves a bit
lovely swatches…

LOL Yes, I think we’re worth the splurge here and there, don’t you?
I know what you mean – they’re so pricey, but if the shade works, it’s totally worth it. I’m so glad you approve, Taylor!!
