My First Dior: Rouge Dior Lipcolor in Daisy Plum #976

This post has been a long time coming, and I genuinely apologize!  I don’t have any good excuse for postponing this – though I will say that I’ve only been wearing this lipstick in the past couple weeks.  Nevertheless, I guess it’s better late than never, so without further ado, let me present to you my very first Dior beauty product: their Rouge Dior Lipcolor formula in Daisy Plum #976!

I figured, if I was going to introduce Dior into my makeup repertoire, what better way to start than with a beautiful lippie from the brand (though of course, I could have easily begun with one of their fabulous nail polishes as well)?  The Rouge Dior formula is claimed to be an ‘ultra-nourishing, long-wearing formula,’ and is quite luxurious (which one would hope at $36CAD).  The particular shade I picked, Daisy Plum, is a golden berry plum color that has fine shimmer throughout.  I would normally pass a color like this by, particularly one that has a slightly frosty finish, but in trying to step ‘out of the box,’ I swatched this shade in-store and thought “what the heck.”  The berry hue is very complimentary to my skintone, and the shimmer adds that little bit extra to give it some dimension.  Pleasingly, they don’t add a gritty texture and it wears very comfortably on the lip, which is usually my concern with such a finish in a lipstick.  The color itself is just deep enough to be suitable for the fall season, but leans pink enough to be perfect for the winter as well (especially the holidays!).

Regarding the long-wearing claims, though this doesn’t last all day long of course, it does stand up fairly well (about 3-4 hours without eating) and leaves a touch of a stain behind even after eating/drinking, fading nicely so as not to leave that tacky ring around the mouth.

Normally I’d wear a little more makeup with this kind of look, but even on it’s own (I have foundation/concealer/powder on but nothing else), it looks pretty great, no?  It’s such a stand-out color, I’m so glad I went with a shade out of my usual suspects!  Add a terrific, easy-to-wear formula, and you’ve pretty much got a recipe for success :)

This lipstick colour looks amazing, but I think the face behind the shade should take more of the credit! :) I would normally pass up this kind of colour too, but lately I’ve been stepping out of my comfort zone and trying on deeper & even vampier shades than normal, so I totally “get” you here. Gorgeous, Toya!
PS: Can you believe that while I own many Dior products, I don’t have not even 1 lipstick? How crazy is that?! Something tells me that that’s about to change…

SO PRETTY on you!! I’ve been lemming for a berry shade myself and I don’t own a Dior lipstick. I should go look, right?

Great colour! Haven’t tried a Dior lipstick yet but I suppose the day is coming. :) This is a great option for the season and I’m so excited for you.

Duuuuuude. That color is spectacular on you! Every time you wear a deeper lip shade you end up in serious va-va-voom territory.

I love Dior lipsticks. The texture and wear has yet to disappoint, and the color range is really good. I’ve been trying out their new Nude range and loving those in particular.
