Today I was catching up on some of my favorite blogs (I am SO behind!), and of course I started noticing a trend – everyone was talking about holiday beauty, in some way or another. It always comes as a shock to me that as soon as November begins, the holidays begin in full-force without a pause – it was especially weird being away from home and seeing decorations going up everywhere in New Zealand ~brain does not compute.~ I find it particular distressing to see all the beautiful holiday makeup collections and sets coming out that are desperately calling my name, because I feel so guilty splurging on myself when it should be spent on others (I sometimes like to employ the ‘one for you, one for me strategy’ in my weaker moments).
Aside from the consumerism-mode that we can get into during the holidays, another aspect is actually putting looks together, whether it be fashion or makeup. Yesterday I pulled out all my red, gold and silver makeup (just realized I forgot green….must correct that!) to have at the ready so I can be as festive as possible (though I did see a couple of great looks today that didn’t showcase the requisite ‘holiday colors’, which got me thinking outside the box a little bit). While you don’t need to be as anal organized as I am, it does help to lessen the stress of what makeup to wear if you have a couple go-to products at the ready. Here’s where Make Up For Ever’s new All Eyes On You set comes in!
The kit contains (click on links for previous reviews): an HD Microfinish Powder; an Aqua Cream Waterproof Cream Color in #16 (a pink-beige shimmer); two of their waterproof, long-wearing Aqua Eyes Eyeliners in 21L (dark metallic grey) and 0L (mat black); and a Smoky Lash Extra Black mascara.
As I already own all the products in this set except for the Aqua Cream shade (of which I own several other shades), I can attest to their awesomeness as I’ve been using them all for some time. While the Smoky Lash formula isn’t my favorite, looking back at the photos I took of the mascara worn, it really did give my lashes some oomph! The liners, with their waxy-like finish, wear exceptionally well, and 21L (gifted to me by the lovely Liz of Beauty Reductionista) is one of my favorite liner shades ever – somehow both soft and defining at the same time (see photo of me rocking it out, below). The HD powder is wonderful at setting makeup and giving a flawless, smooth finish – just be sure to use a light hand (I know some who have concerns about it turning white under the camera’s flash, but I’ve personally never experienced this).

The Aqua Cream shade, #16, is a metallic beigey-pink that can be applied sparingly to the eyelid for a subtle, eye-opening look, or heavier for a more dazzling look. You can also wear this on the cheekbone as a highlighter. On the back of the kit box they have two suggested looks to try, one of which is described as a ‘soft shimmer’ (in which you use the color smudged on the eye); the other is for ‘dramatic glamour,’ where they recommend the product be worn on the both the brow and cheek bones.
Like the festive background in the last shot??? There’s a reason for this…as I don’t own this shade, I guerrilla-swatched it at Sephora at the mall this past weekend. WHY would I do that, you ask , when I already have the product in my possession!?
You see…in the spirit of the holidays and giving and all that – I thought it might be nice not to mar this pretty collection and share the love with one of my most excellent readers
Seems many of you stuck by me even when I was MIA for almost 6 weeks, and I don’t take that lightly! It was such an unexpected treat to come home to find that my readership held steady the entire time. You guys totally and utterly ROCK!!

Good luck to all that enter – and an early ‘Happy Holiday wish’ to you!
I am personally wishing you good luck in this photo.
Oh, one more question – is it too early to start drinking rum and eggnog?!

I am happy you are back safe and sound. Your trip had to be nothing short of amazing! No, it’s not too early for rum and eggnog. M favorite is eggnog and whiskey over ice. Sounds bad, but try it and you will be hooked. I love the holidays because I can drink things like eggnog and whiskey, I see my beautiful kids more during the holidays. They don’t like the eggnog/whiskey concoction but they do like my cooking!
Welcome home once again and thanks for a giveaway! Woo Hoo!

Seriously girl, your skin is just FLAWLESS!
Also, I’ve got a bunch of Aqua Creams lying around (it was gifted to me by Xiao) and I have yet to REALLY use them. Something must be wrong with me. Coz judging from your post and Tracy’s post, I’m clearly missing out.
Now, do you recommend applying with fingers or with a brush?
#5 by Latoya on November 23, 2012 - 8:02 am
I apply them with my finger, though that’s part laziness and part because I don’t have a proper brush to use for creams (must rectify!). Definitely dig into ‘em, Dani, they have great shades and wear exceptionally!
And thanks for the compliment – I’m glad in pics I’m somehow able to fool you lol

You look fab, Toya! So cozy in that hat
ALSO I HAVE NOT TALKED ABOUT HOLIDAY THINGS, WHAT.
I don’t own an aqua cream, and apparently this makes me a loser
Also, re: holidays = FOOD. Of course
#7 by Latoya on November 23, 2012 - 8:06 am
Ahahahaha I don’t think it quite makes you a loser Larie lol!!! I’m sure you’ll try them eventually – remember I *just* tried a Dior lippie. Now THAT’S a fail!!
I think I’m jumping on the holiday train early because I desperately need to have something to look forward to :S Bah humbug to post-trip blahs!

Okay first off, that picture of you is so pretty!
Secondly, LOVE Make Up For Ever! I am a huge fan of the HD powder and Aqua Eyes liners (0L is my go-to black liner!). I haven’t tried the Aqua Creams but I REALLY want to!! Great giveaway, Toya! Thanks!
My favorite thing about the holiday season is the FOOD!
I love getting together with my mom and sister and whipping up an extravagant holiday feast–so fun! Of course eating it is even MORE fun…:P

Thank you so much for this giveaway! I actually just came across your blog today because I was trying to do some “research” on the “All Eyes on You” Set to see if it was worth buying for the Holidays! Your blog showed up under images on a Google search! I’m so glad I found it! Your post convinced me that it’s worth purchasing, but maybe I’ll hold off on it just in case I have a chance of winning this one!
My favorite part of the holidays has to be the soirees that we all attend. It’s just so much fun to doll up, add glamour to your wardrobe and wear sparkle on your eyes and nails!
#12 by Latoya on November 25, 2012 - 9:39 pm
I agree, Dahnie!! I love that aspect of the holidays too
Gives you total leeway to get your glam on! Glad you stumbled upon the blog! Best of luck on the giveaway!!

I’ve forgotten all about that MUFE pencil but it gives me a lot of joy to know that you’re loving it. Clearly it’s with the right owner now.
I’ve tried all of these MUFE products at some point or another and really like them, but I’ve kind of managed to move away from most at this point. But I did want to give the HD powder another shot and managed to score a sample of it this month, which solved the dilemma.
Okay, the next time you visit Toronto, I HAVE to take you to the newly revamped Eaton Centre Sephora where there is a humongous MUFE PRO bar with all sorts of delicious goodies. YOU WILL DIE. (Of massive joy and happiness.)

I’m dying inside just thinking about it Liz, oooh! Yes, we will have to go there for sure. Next time I’m in T.O. I think I will dedicate one day to Liz-time. Prepare thyself
And yes – loving the liner! It just looks so good
Thank you again my dear!
