I’m not even going to write much here…honestly, the pictures say enough (and I have had two glasses of wine so I’m impatient and unfocused LOL) – I NEED TO TAKE A BREAK:
Swap items received for the month of February (clockwise from bottom left: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer sample, Le Metier de Beaute Rumor blush, OPI Dazzled by Gold polish, Essie No More Film polish, MAC Pro-Pan Shadows in Beautiful Iris and All That Glitters *Sable purchased outright*, MAC Morange lipstick, MAC Ambering Rose blush, Le Metier de Beaute Jade eyeshadow, Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal sample)
Gift from the Good Cheer Fairy (clockwise from left: Joe Fresh Cream Blush in Pecan, Joe Fresh Cheek Tint in Peach, Revlon Color Burst Lip Butter in Sweet Tart)
Ulta USA purchases: butter London Jasper nail polish, LORAC Pro Cheek Stain in Coral Crush
MAC Store: MAC 210 Precise Eye Liner Brush, MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack
Sephora: First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser (sample), Alterna Bamboo Smooth Kendi Oil, Nude ProGenius Treatment Oil (sample) *Missing is Anastasia’s Brow Prep Mini Kit*
……… O_o
In fairness, a huge portion of these items were acquired on the cheapy cheap (my swaps amounted to about $50 for about 4 times that price; some were as gifts or samples), but still….how much makeup can one gal need?! It’s a little overwhelming to have so much new stuff at once. What I’ve been doing is leaving all of this out on my bathroom counter to play with over the next few weeks. It’s so easy to just put it away with everything else, and then go months without even trying it once. THAT’S KIND OF SICK YOU GUYS. I mean, seriously.
Another thing I gotta switch up somehow is my rotation of products worn. I wrote down the list of makeup items I have that I would considered ‘faves’ – the list isn’t super-long, and the worst part is that the majority of those products don’t even get regular play. I have this stupid compulsion to use up the things I hate first, so I can then ‘enjoy’ the things I love. But good grief, when am I gonna get the chance!? For example, I have Giorgio Armani’s beautiful Eyes to Kill shadow in #6 Khaki Pulse, and I’ll be damned if I’ve worn it once in the last six months. WTF people!?!?! That is just. not. right.
In any case, I’m going to remedy this somehow. In the meantime, because I love me a good list, I’m going to do a big favorites post in the next week or so of all the items I wrote down. Hey, the year 2013 is already two months in, but what the heck. A little treat from me to you
Anyone else guilty of a majorly spendy month last month? Any requests of any products you’d like to see swatched/reviewed first?

Guilty? Oh, YES. I’ve spent too much money on makeup and skincare/hair products. NOOOO!!! Now I’m planning on no-shopping for at least one or two months. :/
I love verything you showed, especially that MAC lipstick!

You know, I thought I would LOVE the lipstick and it’s been trickier than expected. I might have to wear it a bit more sheer than expected
Will update soon!
I hope your no-buy goes great, Satine! I’m keeping the VIB sale at Sephora around April in mind – hold out for that!

Ummmm…..so yeah, I have this tendency to buy stuff and put it aside – I tell myself it’s because I need to take pictures of the item in pristine condition for a future blog post, then said item gests bumped to the back of the line when yet another new (or 6 more) items come along – pretty sick, indeed. I have made a pact with myself to take my photos IMMEDIATELY upon bringing my makeup purchases home, so this way, I can actually use & en joy them, as opposed to having them rot in my makeup museum. I mean, seriously.
Toya, you hit the nail on the head: stop wearing the stuff you hate, first. In fact, STOP WEARING THE STUFF YOU HATE & JUST GET RID OF IT. Why are you torturing yourself with that crap? It’s normal that our tastes change – change is good – so just because you bought item X a few years ago, but now can’t understand-why-you-ever-liked-it-in-the-first-place-but-since-you-spent-the-money-you-need-to-use-it, is not a good enough reason for a smart girl like you to hang on to these offenders. Chuck ‘em, I say! And start wearing that georgeous Armani ETK — life is for living, remember! Plus, I’m sure it looks fabulous on you!

Apparently I have smart ideas when I’m tipsy lol. I really am going to take your advice Eugenia, and get rid of the stuff I don’t like. Life IS too short!
I think it’s a great plan to take photographs ASAP before putting stuff away – I tend to do that with a lot of things, leave them in a visible area so I don’t forget ‘em. Works like a charm!

Aww! Thank you for the link! I like being the good cheer fairy
I absolutely understand what you mean about wanting to use up the stuff you hate. I’ve been giving things a fair chance, but then turfing them if they don’t work for me (case in point: I have a lot of really craptastic lip products). I would so much rather use the things I love!
I would like to hear your thoughts on the dry oil. I had gotten a deluxe sample of it in a Sephora order that got lost at the border, so while they refunded me, I never got my sample (and I’m still grouchy). I’m all about oils. Would also like to hear your thoughts on the Lorac cheek stain and the Becca skin perfecter.

I think you need more make-up.
I have been doing really well lately. I am not spending too much.

Oh wow, good for you!! I am good for a couple weeks and then I get a bit crazy all over again LOL. I am trying to remind myself that makeup is my hobby and passion and to not get TOO down on myself when I go on a little spree…as long as I keep it reasonable LOL

I totally agree with Eugenia. Tastes change, no need to beat yourself up over it. And makeup has an expiration date, so don’t be afraid to chuck stuff! Yeah, maybe some things are going to waste, but if you wait too long, the stuff you love will be in the same position several months later, you know? So wear the stuff you love. I’m trying desperately to buy less things (and have been pretty successful so far), which is helping that whole situation immensely.

I’m guilty just about every month lol

MORANGE! I’ve been eyeballing that one pretty hard myself.
I see some good picks here, and so much of it was economical and didn’t cost much if at all, so I’d say you’re totally entitled to your loot. You’re not the one with a stupid name like Reductionista after all, lol. I know it does seem a shame when we don’t use the beloved goods as much but I’d say that if we’re not in that zone where we start to forget what we own and don’t and start buying duplicates, we’re in real trouble. Other than that, you’re a collector and a big part of you want to build it. IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME. And by “they”, I suppose it means the makeup.

ahhh I love Essie’s No More Film–I’ve been using it non-stop lately!!
and LOL–isn’t it funny how our beauty-addicted logic works sometimes? “I will use these products I don’t like first so I can enjoy the other ones later” hahaha
#12 by Makeup Morsels on March 16, 2013 - 4:47 pm
Yeah, I’ve noticed that a lot of your empties are things you said you didn’t even like hahaha. I’m definitely the opposite, which means I really need to throw out those things that I don’t like and never use….right now they’re just taking up unnecessary space in my collection.
Anyways, beautiful products and hope you enjoy using them this month
