Ka-POW Lips: BITE Beauty’s High Pigment Lip Pencil in Quince

Apparently, this spring I’m bringin’ my A-Game.  That’s right – I’m rockin’ the SHIZ outta this season.  Its been sunny and kinda sorta warmish this week, so I pulled out my AMAZING printed pants that I bought down in NZ – I did show you a picture – and wore them yesterday with pride.  Even though they’re so loud and crazy and some people actually looked at my pants first before looking at my face (LOL), I didn’t care if they loved or hated ‘em because I felt KICKASS.  Good times.

Over the past month, I decided I absolutely NEEDED a bright pink lippie.  It would give me mega-spunk times 10, right!?  So, last week I finally took the plunge and picked up BITE Beauty High Pigment Lip Pencil in Quince, $28CAD (which also happens to be a Sephora ‘hot pick’ or whatever, but I LIKED IT BEFORE IT WAS COOL *just sayin’*), a matte bold fuchsia lipstick.

BITE Beauty lip colors are known for their exclusion of baddie chemicals, and make the claim that the ingredients they do use are ‘healthy enough to eat.’  …cool?  I mean, it’s great that they’re kind of like a ‘clean’ beauty brand, for sure.  Just…yeah.  ANYWAY, the High Pigment Pencils are designed to be long-wearing, paraben-free, and contain ‘super’ antioxidant resveratrol – each pencil contains enough of it to amount to five glasses of red wine (does that mean if I eat it then I’ll get drunk??????? :D :D :D).  So there’s a whole whack of good reasons to get on board, and it was high time I did it.

Aside from all the great ingredients in the pencil, there’s also the fact that THIS COLOR IS AMAZING.  This is the EXACT color I wanted in a bright pink lippie.  I find the shade uber-flattering on my skintone and super-wearable (also due to the fact that the finish is more of a demi-matte than totally flat) while still being totally stand out.

I wore this shade last Wednesday, and found it relatively long-lasting – it survived fairly intact through a meal, but began to fade shortly thereafter.  Despite being sick and dried up like an old prune, it was comfortable to wear, for a matte, though it was not hydrating.  However, note that BITE Beauty does not make claims that it should be, which is a key point.  It actually states that you should prep your lips first with [their] balm and then apply the lip color.  Since they don’t make a claim they can’t live up to, plus the fact that I actually didn’t find this problematic to wear on my drier lips, they get a gold star from me 100%.

I am madly in love with this lip pencil – I love the color, I love the formula, and I love the ease of application with the pencil.  I am most definitely picking up a couple more of these – I’ve seen pics of Pomegranate that look stunning, and Zinfandel (electric coral) and Corvina (bright coral pink) are totally up my alley!

Have you tried any BITE Beauty products?  What is putting some pep in your step this spring?

LOL Toya you are my favorite. “Does that mean if I eat it I’ll get drunk?” hahahahha. This is such a kickass shade, and you’re rocking the hell out of it. Love your pretty face! Also, your whole ‘I liked it before it was cool’ bit reminded me of those hipster LOTR memes, have you seen them?

    • #8 by Latoya on April 22, 2013 - 7:13 am

I haven’t, and I need to google them!!! Sounds like my kinda thing hehe. Thank you x 10 for the sweet compliments my dear, great way to start my day :D

It looks gorgeous on you! I’m glad you’re so happy with it! Also (enabling): get pomegranate! It’s the most incredible shade of bright red.

    • #12 by Latoya on April 22, 2013 - 6:54 am

Ugh I know – I must! I’ve seen so many great swatches of it. It’s scary that I was just going to say – ‘$28 is reasonable’ lol – this is what happens when you spend $39 on a lippie, all else seems cheap! Haha

Love how vibrant this shade is. I’ve yet to try anything from BITE, but have heard good things. I’m always keen on pencil-style lipsticks :)

    • #18 by Latoya on April 22, 2013 - 5:36 pm

Yea, you know, I don’t have too many pencils but I want more, they’re so easy to use! You gotta try BITE Catherine, I am sold off just one product and can’t wait to try more :D

Hahaha. No drunkeness :P They probably don’t taste very good either… :P

But this is your shade, girl! Holy cow! It’s stunning! I have Pomegranate which I like a lot, though I do find them a bit waxier feeling than some of my other lipsticks. I want another one – maybe one of the darker berries :D

    • #20 by Latoya on April 22, 2013 - 5:37 pm

Thanks Larie :D :D I didn’t notice it being too waxy but I’m really just getting into lipsticks and trying new brands so I don’t have a ton to compare it to. I really need to try Pomegranate, you gals all made it look so damn good!

No, I refuse. I can’t. I haven’t tried any Bite products yet, but I’m scared that I’ll love them too much and get addicted and then there’s another brand that gets ALL MY MONEY. :(

But this shade is positively gorgeous. It reminds me of MAC’s Lickable. Except matte. And longer wearing. :P

    • #22 by Latoya on April 22, 2013 - 5:39 pm

Haha oh man, I feel your pain…but, you really should give in to this brand Denise…so good!! Lets just give in to the fact that we’re a lost cause, all pretties will be ours eventually :D
