Cross One Off My Beautiful-Makeup-I-MUST-Own List: Le Metier de Beaute’s Corinthian
Posted by Latoya in Eyeshadow, Le Metier de Beaute, Lemmings on March 6, 2012
It’s all going downhill from here. There is just no way I can go back to buying plain ‘ol, now that I’ve delved into the world of serious luxury. I’m calling it here and now, my friends: The desire only increases as time wears on. I started, as many did, with MAC….moved my way into bigger and better brands like Urban Decay and Benefit…then NARS and Bobbi Brown…then slowly entered the world of Chanel… and now here I am. Shopping for makeup in other countries because I wanna, I gotta have it! It’s not only about a price point…it’s just that as you get exposed to more and more brands, the more you want to try. And I specifically want to try the best. Which brings me to my very ~precious~ purchase du jour – Le Metier de Beaute’s Corinthian eyeshadow.
I have to congratulate myself here for a minute, because I ordered Corinthian based on swatches I saw online, not realizing that this particular shade is one of the brand’s most loved and hardest to keep in stock. So I clearly have good taste
I have been itching to try something from Le Metier for about a year now, but just couldn’t bring myself to pay not only a higher price tag, but also the shipping that would go along with it. Additionally, I believe the last time I tried to buy something from the brand, it was restricted from delivery to Canada. Thankfully, the stars aligned for me a few weeks ago when Neiman Marcus had a free shipping code (that was actually applicable to us North of the border) and I realized that Le Metier would indeed ship to me. I immediately scoured the internet to figure out what purchase(s) I wanted to make, and decided upon Corinthian after seeing a variety of lovely swatches which showcased its beautiful bronze/taupe/silver/purple tones.
Last week my ~precious~ made its way into my greedy hands, and I immediately dove right in before even taking any pictures for the blog (sacrilege, I know). Thankfully, because this shadow is ridiculously butter smooth and soft, you can’t even really tell it’s been touched (must be the quadruple-milled aspect *seriously*).
The pigmentation of this shadow is really amazing – it hardly seems like it’s picking up on your brush, and yet you apply it and there it is – complete with a gorgeous sheen that borders on shimmer but never quite gets that obvious. I know that Le Metier’s philosophy is one of layering – and I can see how these shadows would achieve that. Somehow it leaves a veil of color that shows up perfectly on skin, without being heavy but not lacking in pigmentation in the least. I found wear time to be good – nothing above average but good enough (6-8 hours before any fading) that I felt satisfied in the cost (which by the way is approx. $30CAD).

The shade of Corinthian is also (obviously) quite striking – a mix of pale bronze and taupe with hints of purple and silver sheen depending on the light. I know taupe is a BIG DEAL shade in the beauty community, but I’m getting on the bandwagon late so forgive my ignorance of how versatile and fabulous it is. This particular shade would work for every single skintone I think, pulling out whatever undertone was in the wearer and accomodating to it. I compared it to my bare Escentual’s Meteorite, and while they’re quite similar actually, Corinthian has a touch more bronze and wears much more naturally, whereas Meteorite is highly metallic. I feel justified in owning both (of course I do).
Top: Meteorite; Bottom: Corinthian (Artificial light)
Top: Meteorite; Bottom: Corinthian (Natural light)
Needless to say, my first foray into Le Metier products certainly didn’t easy my desires – if anything, I’m just biding my time till I order some more! Thankfully, the Lip Cremes and Lip Glosses contain Lanolin, which I’m allergic to, so I’m putting those right out of my head now. However, the rest of the line is fair game, my friends
What do you think of Corinthian? Are you a slave to taupe as well? Have to tried Le Metier de Beaute products before? Which are your favorites?

Ohhh failure! I’m so sorry that I neglected to post yesterday, bad Latoya. I went out for dinner right after work, then came home to quickly get changed to go see a free show at the Casino! It ended up being a bit of a later night than anticipated
However, I’m up bright and early today to make up for my transgression (edit: I WAS up early writing this…but then went out for a run, and had brunch, and went to the mall…so I’m just getting around to this now, oops!)! I have so, so many things to show you guys but it’s probably not going to happen until Monday – it’s going to be a busy weekend! I wanted to give you a taste of what you have to look forward to, though. SO so exciting!!
First, some terrific news: Nail Polish Canada will be carrying the to-die-for nail polish brand Nfu-Oh (known for their holos and flakies), starting Tuesday, March 6th. How freakin’ awesome is that!? I have yet to try any of these polishes, because they are a pain to get a hold of, but you can be sure I won’t waste any time jumping on the bandwagon quickstat. This is just one more reason for me to troll their website and ogle all the pretty polishes – I hardly even have to buy any shades in person now, because they carry almost every brand I want, and at cheaper prices in most instances than I can buy them here! Plus you get points on every purchase to eventually get free polish. Sa-weet!
Second, I have some extra-pretty makeup to show you! I received a lovely little package from Make Up For Ever containing a handful of shades that are perfect for Spring! I plan on doing a thorough inspection on these very soon, but for now, here is some photo spam!
Lastly, I did something very bad VERY GOOD. I ordered something from Neiman Marcus since they had the free shipping code available. It’s one of the products on my Very-Beautiful-Items-I-Must-Own list, and I cannot wait to get some major play with it
Again, I’m going to leave you in suspense on this one (though I’m sure you can guess what it is) until I can showcase it properly, but I’ll give you a little sneak-peek to tide you over:
Part of the reason I was up so early today is that I have all of these pretty things on my mind and I honestly couldn’t wait to write about them! Ah, the little things eh?
I’m off to play for a while, but keep your eyes out over the next few days, because I won’t be able to wait for too long before posting all about them!
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!!
