I was going to leave my eyeshadow collection ’till last to swatch in my ‘find the gaps’ series of posts, but the superstorm (which…is kind of lackluster – yea, there’s lots of snow, but I want some action, darn it!) seemed like the perfect time to just get ‘er done – so I did! Oh man…for those of you who have larger collections than mine, I feel sorry for you if you attempt to do this – it is a BIG EFFING ORDEAL. I started last night and got just over halfway through before both (!) arms had had enough. I continued today and after needing to re-swatch several shade categories to get them *just right*, my left arm is just burning (as you’ll notice in the photos – red spots galore!). So: enough. I’m ready to rock ‘n roll. Now – let’s get into ‘er!
Note: All shades are permanent within their respective brands except where otherwise noted.

….PHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you make it??

…So. To be honest, when I started swatching all my makeup, I was originally just trying to find a way to justify new purchases – if it could be considered a shade I didn’t already own, then I would feel free to go for it. However, now I’ve discovered that being so fully aware of what I own, has made me really excited to play with my current collection, instead of seeking out new products. I especially noticed this with this eyeshadow post – there are so truly fabulous shades in there! While there are still of course colors I’d like to pick up to fill the gaps (namely – a lilac and a skintone [MY skintone, to clarify] shade, among a couple others), overall I’m WELL aware I have a ton of shades to rock out and don’t really *need* anything else at the moment. I did notice I have a lot less color than I imagined, but that’s actually OK because I don’t tend to wear it a ton and try to avoid buying a lot of it only for it to go unused. I think my stash is fairly representative of the kind of makeup I wear day to day! So SCORE for being logical in my purchases

I am kinda worn out from the work necessary to do this post, so I’m done now LOL. But – I have questions for you!
Do you see any gaps that I could fill? What shades make up the bulk of your eyeshadow collection?? Also – anyone bother to count how many shades I have? I’m too tired now to bother LOL

This is going to be a super-quick post (no…really) as apparently this party-girl is still going despite the fact that technically Christmas is over. Over the past week I’ve been burning the candle at both ends every single night except Christmas night…funny, that. Anywho, while I wait for my drive to take me to my next party (despite the fact that I work tomorrow, as I did today…ugh), I figured I would post quick pics of a great silver polish I found on the cheap – $2.99CAD on sale at Lawtons drugstore. Woot! I am NOT a fan of silver in most forms of cosmetics (on my skintone), but this somehow works.

It’s kinda of blinding, no? Quite eye-catching without being gaudy, and even though it’s more of a blue-based silver than I normally go for, I think it looks quite nice on me. Maybe my issue is that I’ve been choosing the wrong silver tones all this time! I’m finding more and more that shades I had once written off actually aren’t so bad. I’m starting to think that for some colors, wearing clashing tones (as in, if your skin leans warm, wear cooler shades and vice versa), actually looks better. The verdict is still out on whether or not my skin is cool or warm (some days I suspect I am just plain neutral) – I always thought I was a warmer skintone, but there are a lot of indications that point to that assumption being incorrect. I tend to favor silver jewelry over gold, for example. In any case…I’m starting to ramble and not make sense. THIS is what happens when you write a post under an uber-short timeframe!
To the point. This is a great silver that looks good on me (I think? Thoughts?) and it applied very easily without any trouble (this is two coats). I had previously forgone any more Revlon polishes but I think the fast-dry versions are much better than their regular counterparts. And perhaps the new Revlon polishes are just fine. Ahh, rambling again! All I want to say is – if you see this around, give it a look. Even at full price, which is something like $6CAD, it’s worth a shot and a great shade to wear for the holidays/New Years Eve!
Do you wear shades that ‘clash’ with your skintone? Do you know if you’re warm or cool? What was the determining factor?

After the fanfare of ‘Peridot’ last week, I just can’t get up the same excitement for another of Chanel’s Fall polish releases – it’s sparkly gunmetal shade, Graphite. It IS beautiful, without a doubt – the shimmer is absolutely intense, probably the most in any polish I own. It’s got so much depth and uniqueness and is really striking, like nothing I own or have seen before. But I didn’t find myself ogling Graphite like I did Peridot. It’s really not fair to compare them, because it’s apples to oranges. So definitely give this color a go if you like silvery shades and are into it’s beautiful shimmer. You won’t regret it!!! (but if it’s a choice between Peridot and Graphite…you know which one to choose
).
Behold:

This photo showcases the super-sparkly nature of Graphite…it’s really something else!
My nails in these swatches are crazy long…you can’t tell because it just looks like regular nails in swatches, but the length was borderline crazy-long for me, I felt somewhat uncomfortable. I was only able to wear Graphite for two days before I had to take it off just so I could trim my nails! I just prefer a more reasonable length.

Pretty, right?? I definitely think I’ll get some good use out of this shade, though I think someone with a cooler skintone than mine would rock it out better. This is two coats, with base and top coat. Chanel polishes retail for $27 here in Canada.
What are your thoughts on this polish?
Off to relax for a bit now! It was another busy weekend, and I didn’t manage to catch up on any sleep…but I’m off tomorrow so I’ll be making up for it in a big way then
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
